Born in Dakar , she is one of the most original vocal artist to emerge from West Africa in decade
a cultivated African artist curious about others, anchored in her Wolof culture of origin, but open to the world’s endless blending. Mezzo soprano with a clear tone Julia Sarr, honed her reputation as an A-list backing vocalist in Paris for luminaries such as Miriam Makeba , Youssou Ndour, Salif Keita, Alpha Blondy, Marcus Miller, Archie Shepp, Christopher Cross , Francis Cabrel etc…. The eclecticism of the environments where she has matured her talent and technique gives an idea of the richness of her musical universe. At the confluence of cultures, Julia combines her African and European influences in a harmony that seduces beyond identity drawers. She sings with sensitivity about the condition of women, exiles, children… and love. Because the chrysalis eventually spreads its butterfly wings, Julia blossomed in 2014 with her album « Daraludul Yow ».

In 2023 , Julia released her third opus « Njaboot » . This new album simmered with the talented pianist and producer Fred Soul remain filled with the Wolof source and arise with delicacy on it , a moment of grace where Africa meets Jazz. View video
